serving starts at home - encore addition!

Welcome back to Make a Difference Monday!  I had so much fun last week that I decided to continue serving at home again this week.  This Friday is my hubby's 44th birthday and I wanted to do something special for him.
Me and the hubby - I'm one lucky girl!
I don't know about your man, but mine is super duper hard to celebrate.  He doesn't really have any wants and the few things that he does want/need, he buys for himself.  I thought, and thought, (and scoured Pinterest), and thought some more.

Then I came across this idea and thought it was perfect!
What's better than one celebration day?!  A birthday WEEK of celebrations, of course! I started this past Saturday and have done a little something each day.  Below is what I pulled off each day! :)

Day 1 - Just a little visual of how many days eye've loved him.  :)
I created this fun reminder (along with the rest of the tags in this post) with PicMonkey, framed it, and had it on his night stand for him to see when he woke up.  I had made these cute Halloween frames and got a kick out of how I could tie the two things together!

You can find the number of days between two dates by checking out this website.  How long have you loved your man?!

Day 2 - lottery tickets - I had 4 (cause he's going to be 44!) lottery tickets waiting on him when he woke up!  Ssh!  Don't tell but I think he's getting a kick out of these little surprises!

Day 3 - nuts for my health nut - Back in January, Mike started taking his health extremely serious.  He gets up super early each morning to go work out and also watches what he eats (makes little things like this a bit more challenging!).  This morning I left him a little treat where he makes his shake each morning.  I try to be supportive and not tempt him with unhealthy ways. :)

Day 4 - something HOT!  - This is adding an extra slice of cheese but I thought my Pinspiration was cute - I just needed to modify it a bit...  The hubby loves Tabasco but only buys the original flavor.  I wasn't sure if he didn't like the other types or would never splurge to try them.  Guess we'll find out later today when he gets home from work.  (I might have fallen asleep last night before putting this out for him to find this morning!) :)

Day 5 - such a "handy" man - This one I'm sure he will love (and maybe I'll even benefit from this too!).  A gift card to Lowe's in an adorable mini tool box! (I might have had to buy an extra tool box since I knew the girls would call dibs on it!).
Pinspiration - I actually came up with this one on my own!
Day 6 - a pair of shoes - I was a bit worried about this one (I've mentioned how he's picky, specific, selective, hard to buy for, right?!).  Holden asked what I was doing for today and when I told her she said, "you know he's going to return them."  :)  She's VERY honest with me!  But, I stuck with my plan and I'm pretty sure he likes them!  I read some where that these were a great gift idea for your guy - aka Pinterest!

Birthday day!!! - 44 balloons tied with things we love about him - I've had this pinned probably since the first time I opened Pinterest.  I've been waiting for just the right time to pull it off.  Earlier this week the kids and I made a list of forty-four things we love about him - some were pretty funny!

I thought for sure 44 balloons would look like a lot but it really doesn't!  I could pull off this idea till he turns 80 at least!

just in case someone thought it would be fun to turn on the ceiling fan!  :)
 some of my favorite tags!

don't even get me started about "he makes me plug my nose"!

He's not much into cheese-ball gift giving but doing stuff like this is what I absolutely love! Were any of these ideas my own?  Absolutely not!  Serving at home is all about taking an idea and making it your own!  Don't focus on what you can't do - focus on what you can! Just like my first Make a Difference post talked about - start where you are, use what you have, do what you can!

Happy 44th birthday, babe!  I hope you had a day as wonderful as you are!  We love you so much!

What are some special ways that you've shown your guy that you think he's pretty amazing?!  Or, better yet, what are some fun ways that you've been surprised that have completely made your day?!  I could always use more ideas!  :)

Gig 'em and God bless!

  6. I love these ideas! Sometimes dads/husbands don't get celebrated much on their birthdays. I might copy these ideas for my husband's bday in December!

    1. Hi, Tanya! I completely agree! While I was searching for ideas I kept thinking "why are they so hard to celebrate?!" While there are plenty of lists out there to help, most of them would have left my hubby scratching his head and saying "really?" :) I thought these ideas were fun! I hope they help for your hubby's upcoming birthday! Let me know how it goes!

  8. I love all of these lovely ideas! I've always felt that one day is too short of a time span to celebrate the birth of the one you love. All of these mini celebrations are great... my hubby would love all these ideas too.

Thanks for sharing (and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop).

    Wishing you a lovely week.
    xoxo
