Waiting on... Wednesday

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Since I've started blogging again, I've done lots of thinking about the title of my blog and what it means to wait.  Seems like we use the word 'wait' so many times during the day - wait on a phone call, wait on your sister, wait for a traffic light, wait in the carpool line, wait, wait, wait.  But, what does it really mean to wait?  So I did what anyone would do and I goggled it!

Here's just a few ways that Merriam-Webster described the act of waiting:

wait
verb \'wāt\
: to stay in a place until an expected event happens, until someone arrives, until it is your turn to do something, etc.
: to not do something until something else happens
: to remain in a state in which you expect or hope that something will happen soon

and some of my favorites:
: to remain stationary in readiness or expectation <wait for a train>
: to look forward to expectantly <waiting to see the concert>
: to be ready and available <waiting for her turn>

and the BEST one:
-wait on also wait upon
: to supply the wants of: SERVE

So many times I think of waiting as a negative.  But, it really doesn't have to be!  If you are expecting or hoping that something will happen soon, are ready and available, or have a heart to supply the wants of someone else then that's a huge positive!

Next week I will open my home (eek!) and show you what I've been waiting on.  Our dining room has set (relatively) empty for the 7+ years that we have lived here.  I've got grand ideas for this room and I'm hoping that my waiting will be worth it!

So - what are you waiting on?!

Gig 'em and God bless!
Holly
