30 days of Thanks and Giving - part 4

Well, we are in the final stretch of #30daysofThanksandGiving and we have been having so much fun!  Now, don't get me wrong, it's not all sunshine and roses but it's hard to be grumpy and put out with each other when you are trying to show thankfulness!  I think that's one of the (many!) reasons I love doing this so much - it turns the attention away from me and points it in the opposite direction.  Courtney DeFeo posted a much more eloquent post about this idea earlier this week.  You can read it here.  I never ever want anyone to think I'm doing this for me.  Less of me.  More of You!
It feels so good to love on others.  Sometimes I feel like my heart could explode!  Our goal is to light up someone else's day but many times, we are the ones with our socks blessed off.  As my sweet friend, Sara, said "it's addictive, in a good way".  And it so is!  Once we find a fun way to bless someone, the wheels start turning and I can't wait to do it again!

And, in case you need a few ideas, here are what our families have been up to this past week!
            Day 17
We are (super!) thankful for teachers.  I had been looking for a fun way to thank middle school teachers so when I found these chalkboard coffee mugs, I knew they were perfect!

Sara and her kiddos are thankful for their teachers too so they surprised them with donuts and juice to start the week off right.

            Day 18
We are thankful for our home.  Today was trash day so to help out our neighbors, we returned trash cans to their driveways.

Hunter and Savannah are thankful for their toys and art supplies so they went shopping and filled a box full of some of their favorites to donate to Operation Christmas Child.

            Day 19
We are thankful for our family.  I {thought!} I had a fun family project for us to work on but pretty sure no one enjoyed it! #youwinsomeyoulosesome but even though it didn't turn out as planned, I couldn't imagine sharing life with anyone else! #lovemylittleturkeys

Savannah and Hunter are thankful for their friends so they made turkey cookies and hot coccoa treats for them!

            Day 20
Hope is thankful for her friends.  When I asked her how she could show her friends that she was thankful for them, she said "make them smile".  And, her favorite way to make friends smile is making silly faces.

Savannah and Hunter are thankful for their Gramma Dar Dar so they made a "We love you" banner to mail to her!

            Day 21
Hope is thankful for her dance teacher so we took her a blessing jar as a little happy today.

Sara and her family are thankful for Family Movie Nights so they left popcorn and $1 at a Redbox for someone to enjoy.
*My favorite part of this is that they parked far enough away so that they could watch as someone received this blessing.  Her kids loved seeing the big smile it put on the lady's face that walked up to the Redbox!

            Day 22
The kiddos are thankful for their cousins.  We had hoped to have a movie date with them but our dog took a turn for the worse and we couldn't make the trip.  We'll definitely get together soon!

Savannah and Hunter are thankful for their hands (something we all tend to take for granted most days) so they put their hands to work and made turkey handprint art for their great grandparents!

            Day 23
We are thankful for God and His protection. To show our appreciation we put together a little basket of goodies and delivered it to the fire station by our house to thank the firemen for protecting us.

Savannah and Hunter are thankful for each other so their parents let them stay up a little later and have some extra story and snuggle time together before bed!

Shelly also posted some great ways to love on others using the hashtag #30daysofThanksandGiving on Instagram.  Thanks, friend, for joining us - you'll never know how much it means to me!
Donating coats to those in need / / Care package for a nephew in college
There just happened to be a donation box at Carly's dance studio for used glasses so she donated a pair that she no longer wore
Taking her grandmother shopping / / Packing special lunches for her kiddos with notes of appreciation

a few more Pinterest Thanksgiving links!

I hope this doesn't turn in to a #Pinterestfail cause I'm giddy about making these on Thanksgiving morning!

If you are traveling with your family, here's some ideas that you can do to love on others while at the airport.  Don't stress about layovers - use your time to make someone else's day!

I just came across this one tonight and I'm hoping to make some of these for our Friendsgiving on Thursday.  Crossing my fingers they are as easy as Cassie says they are!

We've got one more week of #30daysofThanksandGiving - let's make it a good one! Wishing you and your family a very blessed Thanksgiving.

Gig 'em and God bless!

  1. I think my favorite was Hope making silly faces to make her friends laugh! And the thing about the "little turkeys" is if nothing else you guys did something together and regardless of how they may have acted that time with mom will be something they remember. Can't wait for our "Friendsgiving"!

    1. It was one of my favorites too! I'll think for a long time on how we can bless someone. Then I'll run it by the kids and they quickly spout off something amazing! I love their ideas and lots of times they are completely FREE to do! Oh, and my "little turkeys" was fine - just wanted everyone to know that not all projects go as planned! I should have planned it earlier in the week. By the time we did it, everyone was tired and just wanting to veg and mom chimes in that she "wants to do a fun project" - groans and eyerolls! Hey, now THAT would have been a fun blog name!
