Friday Favorites - It's beginning to look a lot like...

Crazy-ville
CHRISTMAS!!!

Wow!  The days are going by quicker and quicker and I think I'm getting less and less done!  But, the days are filled with fun and you can definitely feel the magic in the air. Last week was a crazy one and I didn't post my Friday Favorites.  :( OK...truth be told - we had a Christmas party last Thursday and, well, #underfed #overserved!  I enjoyed catching up with everyone else but I couldn't wait to get back on board today.  I know you are busy so I won't delay - here are my...
* Elf on the Shelf! - It is no secret how much I love this holiday tradition (you can read more about why I love our elf here).  Our elf, Waldo, made his appearance on December 1st and has been spreading happiness ever since!  Here are just a few of the things he's been up to!
And, if you need more elf happiness in your Instagram feed, check out #unshelfyoelf2014 - serious fun elf adventures!
* Traditions - We are Aggies and Aggies love their traditions (if you do something more than once it's considered a tradition in these parts!).  Well, we have lots of those around the holidays but one of our very FAVORITES is the "dancing light house".  We are lucky in that this house is located on the street behind our house.  Many (many!) nights after baths, we'll load up in the car and drive over to watch for a few minutes.  The whole show is about 10-15 minutes but one of our FAVORITE parts is the Aggie section - whoop!  I texted the house owners the other night and recommended a fog machine for next year!  ;)  I know, I know - this is not Christmas-y - but the rest of the show is and this is one of our FAVORITE parts!

* finals - Taking finals was definitely not a FAVORITE but putting together Survival Kits for some of our college cousins is!  As part of our #30daysofThanksandGiving, we mailed three of our cousins goodie boxes (unfortunately, only two of them received them - I hope the other one was enjoyed by someone who needed it - sorry Kylie!).
Since they have received their boxes, I can now share the goodies that were inside!

Pens, highlighters, index cards, Kit Kats, Twix, Reese's peanut butter cups, Sour Patch Kids, Gummy Bears, Kraft easy mac, peanuts, popcorn, peanut butter singles, etc.!  Can you believe I filled this box for less than $13 each?!  Granted, nothing in here is good for you - but when you are studying for finals - you are just trying to survive!  I hope this brought them a little happiness!
* SHINE - One of my very FAVORITE things is when God really gets my attention.  We go to Brazos Fellowship and this past Sunday's sermon was on the origin of the Christmas tree.  I won't even try to explain it as well as Pastor Will did (check out the online sermon here) but my FAVORITE part came from a passage of The Message:

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven."  Matthew 5:14-16
Will challenged us to use Christmas lights as a reminder to SHINE!  And, it's seemed like this week when I've needed a little reminder - one has always been there!
* FAVORITE (soon-to-be!) 13 year old!!!  I know, I know, I don't look old enough to have a teenager (in my completely sarcastic voice!) but, in all honesty, I truly can't believe that my baby is tuning 13 tomorrow!!!  He's blessed me in more ways than I can list here. Without getting too sappy - I'm beyond blessed to be his mom.  Thank you, God, for making him mine!
wasn't this taken just a few short years ago?!
To celebrate Colby becoming a teenager on 12-13-14 (isn't that awesome?!), Mike is taking him and four friends to Six Flags in Arlington.  #dadoftheyear  I can't wait to hear the stories that come back from this fun birthday adventure!

Happy Birthday, Colby D!

And just a little nugget to leave you with...

Have a blessed weekend!  Gig 'em and God bless!

  1. So much I love about this post....that sweet picture of baby Colby....oh my goodness that is just a sweet bundle of joy right there! I'm so proud of that boy and so happy I've had the chance to watch him grow in more ways than one. Love when you reference underfed and overserved! And I really love the recap on letting your light shine. Looking forward to tonight!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Tanya. I had never read The Message version either but I really loved how it worded it - "God-colors" - perfection! Have a wonderful weekend!
