Friday Favorites - Yikes! The kids get out of school TODAY!

YIKES!  I only have a few kid free hours to finish up everything that needs to get completed before the kiddos get out for the holiday break.  I'm still trying to finish up a few gifts, get my Christmas cards mailed, and I haven't even started wrapping!  Eek!  So, since I'm short on time, let's get to my five FRIDAY FAVORITES!

*one*
Gingerbread House Decorating Party
This past Saturday, I hosted six 9-10 year old girls for a fun afternoon of gingerbread house decorating.  This all started because my FAVORITE newly minted teenager opted for a day at Six Flags versus me planning him a party.  You can read my reasoning for hosting this party here.

Where's Waldo?
Waldo has still been bringing his magic and I just love seeing the smiles each morning! He's definitely one of our FAVORITE holiday traditions! Last Saturday he decorated our son's door for his birthday - don't you love the Beware of Sleeping Teenager sign?!  :)  On Sunday, Waldo brought new Aggie Santa hats for the bigs to wear when they went to pass out bubble gum to studying students at one of the Texas A&M libraries.  More on that below. Waldo's girlfriend, Joy, was suppose to head back to her job at the North Pole on Monday but he trapped her in a kissing booth!  Tuesday he arrived via a Lego cargo plane and was all decked out with an aviator jacket and glasses.  Wednesday he brought us a Christmas countdown and Thursday he pretended to be Olaf and brought along magic snowballs!  You'll have to check out my Instagram to see what he's up to today!  :)

If you are looking for fun ideas for your elf, check out our hashtag on Instagram - #unshelfyoelf2014.  Last time I checked there were over 300 pictures.  There are some awesome ideas out there!!!  If you have been joining us, keep posting!  If you haven't joined us yet, there is still time!

dance days
Fridays are normally Hope's #danceday and for a few weeks she also had #soccerday right before dance.  Since the bigs have after school activities and Hope doesn't have school on Friday, it makes perfect sense to schedule her extra-circular activities during the day on Friday. She will be super sad when I tell her that she doesn't have dance today, or next week, or even the week after that!  This little girl LOVES to dance.  Truth be told, I really think she likes the attention that being on a stage brings!  :)  Dance Day is one of our FAVORITE days of the week!

Giving Back
Acts of Service is my most FAVORITE love language.  I love, love, love helping others.  My Monday post was all about doing the little things - it doesn't matter how much you give, only that you give.  You can check my post out here.  Some other things that we've been up to are...
ringing bells for the Salvation Army
This was our fourth year helping with the red kettle campaign.  When I told Hope we were going to ring the bells, she asked if she could take a cow bell!  #morecowbell
Ringing the bells {might} include a juggling session, dance party, and races with your sister!
bagging food for Share the Gift
Share the Gift partners local churches and our two ISDs to help students that are on the free and reduced lunch program with food over the holidays.  Unfortunately, the holidays are extremely difficult for kiddos with food insecurities and this is just a small way that we can help.
volunteering at the Bryan/College Station Marathon
Who thought getting the birthday boy up at 7am to go volunteer at the BCS Marathon would be a good idea after he got home from Six Flags at 2am just a few hours before?!  #thismom  We handed out bananas, oranges, candy, and Gu (apparently this gel is some form of crack for runners - just kidding - I think!).  Even though we had to get up early, it was completely worth it.  The runners in this race had to be the kindest and most gracious runners out there!
passing out bubble gum to studying Aggies
On Sunday evening, my oldest two and Shelly's youngest two got together to go pass out bubble gum on the Texas A&M campus to Aggies studying for finals.  We hope this small act will help them #blowawayfinals!
We attach a little card to let them know what the kids are doing and encourage them to post pictures on Instagram.  Here are a few of the fun pictures they shared.
You can read more about our adventure here.  This is, without a doubt, one of our FAVORITE traditions!

my Saturday outfit
As we all know, it's crazy out there!  Tomorrow I plan on wearing this outfit all.day.long!  I love a good pair of pajama pants and I scored these from the men's section at Old Navy for only $6.78 (I just checked and they are $5.50 online here)!  And, they even have pockets!  Not sure why you need pockets on a pair of pajama pants but when I noticed they had them - I got excited!  And, the sweatshirt is a super duper soft light weight material.  Seriously yummy!  I envision myself watching Christmas movies and wrapping gifts all while wrapped up in this pajama goodness!  Pajama Days are definitely my FAVORITE!

I hope you and your loved ones enjoy a fun filled weekend.  Sit back, relax, have loads of fun, and make tons of memories!  It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Have a blessed weekend!  Gig 'em and God bless!

  1. I LOVE all the acts of service you did with your kids, especially the bubble gum one! And I had to smile when I saw your daughter in the kettle picture with her cow bell :)

    1. Thank you! I love the quality time I get to spend with them while we are serving. The older they get the busier they get but if we schedule time to serve just like an appointment or a dance class, we are more likely to do it. And, I giggled every time I heard Hope ringing the cow bell! :)

    1. A friend posted a pic of a tartain plaid pair that I really wanted but they didn't have them when I went. Saw these in the men's department and ended up liking them better (they were a softer cotton). Then when I found the sweatshirt, I just knew it was meant to be! Is it too early to already be wearing them?!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Chelsea! I always enjoy when we can hang together as a family and if we can do that while serving - it's a bonus! I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
