Friday Favorites - 2015 - it's gonna be my year!

As I close the book on 2014 I look back with fondness.  It was my 40th year and there's something about turning forty that causes a person to reflect on who they are and who they truly want to be.  As I turn 41, I'm embracing who I am (wrinkles and all!) and giving thanks to the One who gave me life.  I want to be who He wants me to be and not just who I think I need to be.

Welcome, 2015!  I'm looking forward to making many memories in you this year!

And, even though I'm looking forward, it's fun to look back at a few Friday Favorites from the last week in December!  Enjoy!

Memories - Last year Ginny, Shelly and I celebrated my 40th birthday in New York City.  Two years prior, Shelly and I were sitting in her living room watching Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve and she said that we should take a couples trip to NYC when I turned forty. The guys were out quicker than the conversation started but I'm super thankful that Shelly reminded my husband and he made it all happen.  Seriously - if you ever have a chance to be in Times Square to watch the ball drop - DO IT!!!  Best.trip.EVA!

champagne at The Plaza to celebrate the big 4-0!

Happy New Year!
such a great experience!!!
taking in the sights
while we were there, an Arctic Blast blew in
Central Park is beautiful but after a fresh snowfall - it's magical!
Back to reality in 2015!  Shelly was showing our hubbies how close we were to all the action last year.  We were RIGHT THERE!!!

Birthdays - Everyone assumes having a birthday on New Years Eve is the best birthday ever.  But, it's really not.  Everyone already has plans and no one really wants to celebrate your birthday.  Not gonna lie - many, MANY birthdays ended in tears.  But, I'm happy to say the last two years have been tearless (unless you count tears of joy last year!) and fantastic.  I'm finding the older I get the less expectations I have (not a bad thing) and that that it's ok to create my own happy.
It was a quick celebration with all three kiddos - Colby was heading to a winter scout camp (seriously, camping in a TENT camping with freezing temperatures and rain!) but I loved being surrounded by my kiddos on my birthday.
Mike let the kiddos pick out my gifts and the girls surprised me with a tiara and balloons and then Hope gave me a pink teddy bear from the claw machine from our favorite local restaurant, Holden picked me out a new brush, and Colby gave me an iTunes gift card. Sweet kiddos - made my day!
Shelly treated me to lunch at one of our favorite restaurants where I ate my weight in chips and queso, pepperoni pizza, and some how found enough room to eat a strawberry tart.  #eatalltheunhealthythings #hey #itsmybirthday

New Years Eve - I posted on Wednesday about what I had planned for NYE (you can read about it here).  Happy to say that I was able to pull it off and the kids had a blast!
bags to open for every hour from 6pm till 11pm (the kids were suppose to be in bed before midnight CST!)
6pm - NYE bingo
7pm - ring pops
8pm - mocktails
9pm - Hershey kisses
10pm - glow in the dark ring toss
11pm - confetti, sparklers and noise makers

super excited about my NYE wreath - I quickly put it together with Christmas tinsel I found on sale for 70% off at Target and NYE decorations I had on hand
my sweet girls - sure was missing our oldest though
 Happy 2015!!!

I'm convinced that kids hear different than we do - how do these noise makers NOT drive them crazy?!
Carly and Holden with their mocktails - Sprite in a fancy glass with gummy bears added for flair!
 sweet Dillon toasting with Hope
the glow in the dark ring game was a favorite by all!
 sparklers!
these sparklers were a complete waste of money - trust me, they were suppose to sparkle 2015! :)
so incredibly blessed to do life as the McJanacs - Shelly is like my sister and our kids are closer than cousins
yep - these two made it till midnight!  Happy New Year!

Blank Slate - I blogged on Monday about my goals for the new year (you can read about them here).
#new year #new journal - I love the thought of filling these pages with thoughts, dreams, goals, notes, and ideas!

If you are looking for a fun photo challenge - check out Andrea and Erika's #thephotochallenge2015!  You can see if I can keep up with it here!

Outtakes - And, just because looking at these make me laugh - they are definitely FAVORITE moments from the end of 2014!

Yes, I know I have my work cut out for me with the little one - she's a mess!

Wishing you a wonderful New Year!

Have a blessed weekend!  Gig 'em and God bless!
