Friday Favorites - a little bit of everything!

Holy heck!  The week the kiddos head back to school kicks me in the butt.every.year! Why do I think I'm going to be productive after having everyone at home for 2+ weeks?!  :)  I have to remind myself that the state of our house didn't get this way overnight - I won't be able to fix it overnight either.  It will be at least another week before I get it back to some resemblance of normal!  #babysteps!

But, regardless of the week I've had, the one thing that always puts a smile on my face is Friday FAVORITES!  It's fun looking back over my week (even when I can barely see my counter tops!) and I love getting a peek into the lives of everyone else linking up.  You guys are seriously amazing and awe-inspiring!  Keep it up!

And, without delay, here's my little bit of everything Friday FAVORITES!

1. FAVORITE Link ups!
I'm a newbie in this whole blog world and honestly didn't understand the concept of a link-up till about three months ago.  I would think, "what do all these little pictures at the bottom of a post mean?!".  Little did I know it was just more greatness!  So, I've created a new page that lists some of my FAVORITE link-ups.  If you know of others or you host one, let me know - I would love to add it to my list!
you can find my FAVORITE link-ups page here

2. FAVORITE TV shows!
It's no secret - I'm a tv junkie!  Few things make me happier than to get the kiddos to bed, curl up in my little corner of the couch, and catch up on all the shows that I've DVRed. This week, two of my FAVORITE tv shows started new seasons!
I mean, how can you NOT watch The Bachelor?!  It's a classic love story train wreck and you just can't turn away.  Even though I love watching the show, my most FAVORITE part is when Pinterest Told Me To writes her re-cap!  Seriously - that girl can!  You can check out her re-cap of the three hour (yes, I said THREE hour) show that aired on Monday here
Could Joanna and Chip be any cuter?!  I love how laid back she is and her attention to detail is spot on!  The relationship these two share is beautiful to watch.  I'm SO glad HGTV was smart enough to put them on tv!  Fixer Upper is definitely a FAVORITE!

Shelly and I were fortunate to attend a workshop presented by Joanna and her store The Magnolia Market back in October.  You can read all about it here (you'll have to scroll to the end of the post) and here!

3.  Completed projects
Nothing gets my heart going like a completed project!  It probably has something to do with actually crossing something off my To Do list. :)

Santa brought Holden a sewing machine for Christmas but she didn't have a place to put it.  A friend had given me (yes, GIVEN!) a Pottery Barn kids table that she was no longer using.  We already have this exact table in a different color but when someone gives you a Pottery Barn table, you don't say no. :)  This little table has been sitting in our office for roughly 4 years.  I just didn't know what I wanted to do with it.  After Santa brought the sewing machine, I knew exactly what it needed to be - a sewing table!  We let Holden go to Lowe's and she chose the colors herself.  To say she is proud of this little table is an understatement!  Now she just needs to learn how to use her sewing machine...

the BEFORE...
and AFTER!!!
We used Valspar Reserve paint from Lowe's and the colors she choose were
Raspberry Sorbet and Well Water.
My grandmother loved to sew and I'm sure she's looking down from Heaven smiling right now.  That's my grandmother's thimble and sewing kit.  #aaahhhhh

I also love completing projects that I've pinned to Pinterest.  I recently pinned this and couldn't wait to complete some string art!
Using the super simple instructions on the website, I was able to create this:
#Crafterday is my FAVORITE day of the week!  Hoping to work on some Valentine projects this weekend!  You can check out my Pinterest page here and see some of the fun stuff I might be doing! :)

Hint, hint - I have all the supplies ready and waiting to tackle this fun little project!

4.  Target's $1 section!
Do you ever wonder if those little circles are somehow psychologically just pulling you in?! Have you ever walked by the dollar section in Target and not at least glanced that direction?  If you have, you have WAY more will power than me.  I have found some of the cutest little gifts in this section!  And, my recent trip to Target was no different!  Check out these fun Valentine-y items!
The jars were $3 for two but everything else was $1.  Maybe teacher gifts?!  Not sure but if I can't come up with something, I can always return them.  I'm hoping to decorate the little mailboxes for the kiddos so that they can mail each other little notes (the teen's is obviously just for looks and so he wouldn't feel left out!).  Fun straws - can you ever have enough?!  And the chalkboard sticker banners were just too cute to pass up!

5.  She Reads Truth
Instead of New Years Resolutions for 2015, I have decided to try monthly goals.  Cause, if I can't do something for 30 days or so, what makes me think I could make an entire year?! :) My first goal was to have an intentional and joy filled quiet time.  I really, really want to read the entire Bible (and am terribly embarrassed to admit that I have never done this). I've given it a go a few times in the past and always get bogged down and give up.
But, She Reads Truth to the rescue!  I downloaded their app to my phone and it has a daily reading plan.  Since they can tell you better about the app, here's what I pulled from their website:

It’s a new, FREE plan on the She Reads Truth app, but with a bit of a twist. Here’s what you need to know:
  • This plan will walk you through the entire Bible, cover to cover, in one year—one day at a time.
  • The entire plan will launch on January 1st on the app.
  • You will be able to mark days as “read” and track progress by percentage!
  • The layout will be similar to the current SRT studies, only you will swipe directly from Scripture to comments, without any additional writing/study from the SRT writing team.
  • Yes, there will be comments! If you come across something that is particularly inspiring or difficult to understand, you are not alone—leave a comment! Whether you’re ahead of schedule and the first to make a note, or a bit behind pace and coming upon an existing discussion, the beauty of the comments section is the reminder that we are doing this together.
  • To connect with others reading this plan, use the hashtags #SheReadsTruth AND #365DaysOfTruth
  • Don’t forget to set up a custom reminder to read in the “settings” section of your app!
I know I'm only one week in, but the way I look at it, I've only got 51 more weeks to go!  I'm using my New Living Translation Life Application Study Bible and am taking notes as I go.  It takes me a while to get through each day's reading but I'm trying to take it slow and let it sink in.  So good!

Anyone else using this app?  Would love to hear of others that are using this reading plan - we could encourage each other along the way!

And, if you are interested, you can find the rest of my January goals here!

Thanks for stopping by and reading about my Friday FAVORITES!

Have a blessed weekend!  Gig 'em and God bless!

You can check my FAVORITE link-ups page to find the awesome girlies I'm linking up with today.  Show them some love! :)

  1. You could add our Tuesday Talk link up to your list! We just started it this year, and it'll be every week at 8am EST. Thanks for linking up with us this week too! :) And what a great list - there are several one there I've never seen, so I'll have to check them out!

WOW to your projects!!!!!! I am seriously impressed. I love them. Great job!

    Have a great weekend! -Jess

    1. Thanks for letting me know about the link up! As soon as I get the kiddos off to school, I'll definitely get it added! When I noticed there were no Tuesday link ups that applied to my blog, I played around with creating my own. Just think my blog is a bit young to add a link up. But, I did create a cute button! :)

Thanks for your sweet words and for stopping by! I'll link up on Tuesday! :)

  2. Great favorites! I picked up some supplies at the dollar spot on those straws....and almost grabbed those glass jars with the exact same "I can always return them" thinking. Definitely interested in this app too. Great idea listing your fave linkups too...I always love when I run across others who have this link. And your string art is adorable!

    1. Thanks! You'll have to check out the app. The site crashed on the first and they put a link to the reading plan. I printed it off and really only use the app to read the comments (makes me feel better to read when someone else is stuck on the same thing that I am!) and to check off my progress. #checklistlove Check back for the link-ups! Adding more greatness shortly! I've got one more board for another string art project...just trying to decide what to do! It was SO much fun!

  3. I am doing the she reads truth bible in a year challenge too!! I tried to do this a few years back.. and failed.. but I figured it was worth another go! :)

    1. Yeah!!! I've been enjoying it so far but I must admit - I'm now a day behind! Yikes! Hoping to catch up this weekend! I know if I fall behind, it will be hard to catch up.

Looking forward to following along with your fab posts! Your family is adorable!

  4. Love this list, especially the linkups! I'm a new blogger; well this is my third blog and hopefully nothings gets in the way this time. Hope to continue to see you around.

    1. Thanks, Krystal! I've started a couple of blogs myself and never followed through! #bloggerproblems :) See you around soon!

    1. Thanks! I've added your link-up to my list. I have it listed under Thursday - let me know if that's the correct day. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. I'm once again sucked into this season of The Bachelor! I can't believe some of these girls...CRAZY!!

    1. Soul Sister! Just add this to our long list of things we share a love of! Girl, have you ever seen so much cray cray?! And, they don't even seemed bothered by it! Bless their hearts! One day they'll look back on this and cringe!

    2. I know all I can think is how those poor girls are going to regret their actions one day, but until then I'm happy to be entertained by!

I love when you leave comments! So...what are you waiting for?! :)
