Friday Favorites - what a week!

While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites gratitude edition
Phew!  We made it!!!  This past week has been packed with extra goodness and so much to be thankful for!  Since my last Friday Favorite post, we have returned from the 4th grade field trip to the state capitol, Colby completed his Order of the Arrow ordeal for Boy Scouts, Mike's mom flew in to visit for a few days, Hope had a make-up soccer practice, we loved on our teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week, Holden finished a painting for her Nana at art class, Colby played in two 7-on-7 games and then went straight to a scout meeting, Holden had a Student Council meeting, both girls performed in their dance recital, Holden had a Variety Show at school, and last night we went up to campus and passed out bubble gum for students studying for finals... See what I mean?!  Crazy busy time of year!  But, that only means one thing - summer is really close!!!

I had so many FAVORITES from this past week and I couldn't narrow them down so I've decided that this week's Friday FAVORITES will be five things I'm super grateful for!
Super thankful for all the teachers that touch the lives of our kiddos.  They truly, truly are unsung heroes with immense power!  With their words they can inspire dreams in our kids and give them confidence beyond what they thought they could accomplish.  Since it was Teacher Appreciation week that meant I got the chance to put together little goodies for them (one of my FAVORITE things to do!).  As you read above, our week was cray cray, to say the least, and I ran out of time so stay tuned for a little something I have planned for the middle school teachers and school admins between now and the end of school.  Here's how we showed a little appreciation this week:
Hope's school gave us a theme for each day.  On Tuesday we were to bring a stem of flowers for each of their teachers and each kiddo would add theirs to a vase for their teacher.  We popped by the grocery store and grabbed some yellow roses and attached this tag to each stem:

Thank you, WordSwag!
Check out Shelly's post for an awesome tutorial on one of my FAVORITE apps!!!
I love how all the different flowers came together to make a beautiful bouquet!

Thursdays theme was sweets so we took M&M's and attached this little poem (found here).

Holden's teacher is out on extended maternity leave so she has had a substitute teacher for the past few weeks who will stay with them through the end of the year.  We wanted to do a little something for her and when I saw this, I knew I had to recreate it!

I hope all the teachers out there feel super appreciated - this week, and always!

Mike's parents live in California so we only see them once every year or so.  We try to road trip out there at least every other year but the older the kiddos get, the harder this becomes.  Mike's mom tries to fly out at least once a year and for the second straight year, she's been able to be here for the dance recital.  I always feel bad when she comes in May - it's constant go, go, GO but the kids LOVE having her here and at all of their activities.
Mary arrived after 10pm on Saturday night so the girls went to meet her at the airport in their pjs!
Colby was at a campout but came home early to see Nana.
Lots of time spent learning origami!
The weather was absolutely amazing while Nana was here!  The kids enjoyed taking her to play golf.
She also got to watch Hope play soccer!
Nana walked with Holden to school one day...
and spent the afternoon watching them hang out doing what they love - throw the football, ride their bikes, and play in the water!
We treated Nana to dinner at one of her FAVORITE restaurants - Koppe Bridge.
Nana reciprocated and took Holden lunch at school the following day.
The rain held off and she was able to watch two of Colby's 7-on-7 football games.
Last night was the big dance recital!  It was so fun having Nana there!
Goodbyes are NOT my favorite!  Nana had to say goodbye to the kiddos before they left for school yesterday.
I'm so very thankful for the man she raised.  He's so good to the kids and I and I know that I have her to thank for that.

As a small token of appreciation, I quickly printed out the pictures that I had taken while she was here and put them in a scrapbook as a little early Mother's Day gift.  Am I the only one that misses Creative Memories?!

I'm so very thankful that my parents were able to come in to town for the dance recital. My mom had knee replacement surgery a little over 4 weeks ago and this was her first trip out of town.  My dad is also recovering from Mohs surgery so we were super grateful they could make the three hour trip.
Dede and Pop Pop had the privilege of sitting next to Hope with her endless supply of excitement!  She couldn't wait to get on that stage and dance!
And, a little #FlashbackFriday of my FAVORITE picture of my dad and I.  Today is his 76th birthday.  Happy Birthday, Dad!  I love you!

This week I'm super thankful for friends.  I sat here forever trying to think of something poignant to say but words just aren't enough - I'm forever grateful for the friends that love me and my family.  That encourage us, think about us, and share life with us.  I don't say it enough but THANK YOU!
It's no secret that Shelly and I are besties but the fun part is so are our girls.  We laugh because they are like mini versions of us (Lord help us!). :)  We took this picture to go along with the one we took five years ago in the same dressing room!
look how much they've grown!!!
 Hope loves Carly too!
The McJanacs, as we like to call ourselves, follow this motto:
Friends are the family you choose!
So thankful we get to do life together!

I am so super duper thankful for my sweet hubby, Mike.  I seriously drive him crazy but he loves me anyway!  I couldn't have pulled off this week without his help.  While I was putting hair in a bun and applying make-up for the recital, he was lacing up dance shoes and loading up the car.  While I was getting Teacher Appreciation stuff ready, he was making deliveries.  While I was getting Holden to art lessons, he was getting Colby to football.  We haven't spent much time together, just the two of us, but it makes me appreciate little things even more - like the hugs that last a little longer than normal or a call to say he misses me - I thank God for the man that Mike is.  I couldn't live without him!

With Mother's Day just a couple of days away, I want to take this time to wish a very happy day to all the moms out there!  In the words of High School Musical, "we're all in this together!".  You guys rock and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Have a fabulous weekend!  Gig 'em and God bless!
