May Goals

While I'm Waiting...May Goals
Wow!  It's already eight days into May and I haven't listed my goals for this month!  I know that all the activities this time of year shouldn't surprise me but it does!  Every.single.year!  :) Before it's too late, I wanted to list out my goals for this month.  I have found that having a few things that I know I want to accomplish helps me to stay on task (and I truly need that right now!).

But, before I get too far, I want to update my progress towards my April goals.  Here goes:

*do what I can, with what I have, where I am - April was tough and left me feeling like I needed to be in multiple places at once.  But, I sat down with our calendars, talked with Mike, and came up with a plan.  Like my original goal stated - I did what I could, with what I had, where I was at.  Hope and I were able to spend a few days taking care of my mom after her knee replacement surgery and then we came home to get her back in school (it was hard getting her back in the routine after being gone for a week) and for me to handle things here.  Mike and I FINALLY converted the dining room into a second living room (reveal coming soon - I promise!) and I was lucky with a few lunches and/or dinners with friends.  That's what feeds my soul!!!

*special one-on-one dates with Mike and each kiddo - I was able to spend lots (and LOTS!) of time with Hope this month.  I even had a couple of special events with Holden.  Mike and I got to spend lots of time together working on the front room but I definitely need to work on carving out some special time with Colby!
Hope and I spent lots of time together while my mom was in the hospital.
Mike and I chaperoned the middle school dance and were able to enjoy a quick dinner, just the two of us, before picking up the girls (notice how much healthier he eats than me...maybe that should be a goal of mine - one day!  I love my chips and queso!)
We got to have a special Pizza, Pie & Parents lunch with Hope
and then we enjoyed a special trip to Houston to see Disney's Frozen on Ice!
Sadly our volunteer shift for Aggie Ring Day was cancelled due to bad weather but that meant a night at home with no where to be!  I would say that we all watched a movie but I'm pretty sure I fell asleep before the movie even started!  But, hey, we were all together so that counts, right?! :)
We took a family road trip to IKEA to pick out furniture for the new room.
they were having a blast - can't you tell?!  :)
I promise it wasn't as awful as it looks (even though we were there for 4 hours - yes, FOUR hours!).
then I got to spend lots and lots of time with this hunk! (I'm a fan!)
The girls and I went to the Texas A&M Vet School Open House.  Holden's Kennedy picture was on display in the art show and then we had a little fun!

See?!  I told you April was going to be a doozie!!!

*work on summer service projects - I emailed out our dates for volunteering at the food bank this summer but I still need to work on the summer of service challenge.  Stay tuned - I'll share real soon!

And now for my May Goals:

*Teacher Appreciation Week goodies - Technically Teacher Appreciation Week was last week but I wasn't able to get the admins and middle school teachers' gifts together.  I'll get these together sometime before the end of school.

Here are a few things we did for Hope and Holden's teachers:

Hope's school gave us a theme for each day.  On Tuesday we were to bring a stem of flowers for each of their teachers and each kiddo would add theirs to a vase for their teacher.  We popped by the grocery store and grabbed some yellow roses and attached this tag to each stem:

Thank you, WordSwag!
I love how all the different flowers came together to make a beautiful bouquet!

Thursdays theme was sweets so we took M&M's and attached this little poem (found here).

Holden's teacher is out on extended maternity leave so she has had a substitute teacher for the past few weeks who will stay with them through the end of the year.  We wanted to do a little something for her and when I saw this, I knew I had to recreate it!

I get the majority of my ideas from my School Stuff Pinterest Board:

*Mother's Day goodies - I've got a few things I would like to do for a few special moms.  Looks like it might not happen on Sunday but I will get it done!  :)

*make hats to donate to the Flourish Women's Ministry service project - Yarn therapy is good for my soul.  I'm hoping to get lots of baby hats completed for this service project.

*last day of school fun stuff - I LOVE the last day of school (I've only mentioned my love of summer at least 4,827 times since Spring Break!) and I always love to have little surprises when the kids get home.  One of my favorite things to do is have a sign on the garage.  I need to start working on my plan for the day!
While I'm Waiting...school's out! Welcome summer!
*get ready for summer!!!
This is where I want to spend the majority of our time!!!

So, how did you do with your April goals?  Have you made a new list for May yet (hopefully you aren't as behind as I am!)? Let's keep each other accountable!

Have a blessed weekend!  Gig 'em and God bless!

    1. Oh, yes, it's the best! :) Actually, they were more annoyed with me taking pictures than with the actual furniture shopping! I can't wait to show you everything! We've about 85% through. Summer of service should be fun too! So much to share - just not enough time to work on everything! Hope you have a great weekend too!
