Friday Favorites - need an ark?

Couldn't help it - with all the rain (again!) this week, you have to find the humor in it all!  :)

On a personal note, I think that I am (finally!) catching up with summer!  It only took three weeks!  :)  I'm happy to report that I didn't miss any training sessions and no one was forgotten at carpool this week!  Whoo hoo!

We enjoyed another laid back week.  Colby has been getting up each morning at 6am to go to Strength & Conditioning camp and then is trying to wrap up is online summer school course.  Holden has been busy taking care of Maggie and creating, creating, creating!  Hope has been at my parents for the last 10+ days so, needless to say, our house has been very, very (very!) quiet without our little chatterbox!  :) We finally got her back yesterday and all is right with the world!

Here are a few of my FAVORITE things from this past week!
FAVORITE post:  The Parts We Choose to Share by Ember Grey
I agreed with so many of the points she made!  I think we all struggle with sharing but guarding certain areas of our lives.  Great read!
MELISSA!!!
While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites
Remember when I told you I couldn't wait for Melissa to come in to town?!  Well, she was here and it was fabulous (just not near long enough!).  The sign of a fabulous friend is one that comes in to town and is perfectly happy ordering pizza, opening a bottle of wine, and sitting on the couch watching the Bachelorette.  And girl talk - lots and lots of girl talk!  It's been nearly three years since we were able to do this yet we fell right back where we left off.  It was the perfect evening with one of the neatest girls I know!

Our FAVORITE bachelorette watchin' shirt can be found here!
crafternoons
While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites
Since Hope has been gone, the bigs and I have spent lots of time creating!  This particular afternoon, Colby had been working on dog collars and Holden and I had just cut up a couple of pairs of pajama pants to make headbands.  The kids then played a pottery game on the iPad and the loser had to make lunch - you see they went all out - Uncrustables and yogurt tubes.  Not complaining though - they were happy and not arguing - and that will always be a win in my book!
While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites
I love that I always have someone to craft with!
While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites
having a sewing machine has changed our crafternoons for the better!
While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites
a few of our crafternoon creations: Colby has been working hard on paracord dog collars, I even got in the spirit and made a scarf from an old t-shirt, Holden is wrapping up her popsicle koozies (seriously, she's made close to 70 of them!!!), and our pajama pants headbands.  Thanks, Andrea, for the tutorial!  :)

Crafternoons are my FAVORITE!!!

BONUS FAVORITE:  when one of your besties shows up to get her craft on with you!
notice Holden and I were sporting our new head wear!  ;)
FAVORITE memories
I was walking downstairs this week and had to stop and just take it all in.  These pictures are located in our stairwell and I pass them countless times each day.  What made today any different?  Not sure but I was quickly reminded how fast they grow up!!!
While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites
In just a few short months, Hope's 5 year picture will be added to this wall - those were five of the quickest years of my life!!!  Doesn't it seem like the more kids you have the quicker they grow up?!
While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites
I'm a sucker for trying to recreate their pictures with similar outfits (sometimes even the same outfit!) and similar poses!  Sorry for the glare - there is a window that would not cooperate with me! :)
While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites
and then their baby pictures - 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 9 months

Memories are my FAVORITE (with pictures being a close second!)
Summer of Service
Don't forget about our Summer of Service challengeThis week was a reminder about how words can be so powerful.  We used post-it notes to leave little messages for strangers.  Something so simple yet so fun.  Kindness is definitely my FAVORITE!
While I'm Waiting...Friday Favorites
Holden had fun helping me with where to leave them - she got such a kick out of the Olaf one!  :)

  1. Um. I love everything about this: time with you, CRAFTERNOON (best word ever), your sweet, talented kids and the fact that since my computer was wiped out and restarted I CAN POST HERE (what was that about?!). You are absolutely right...being able to pick up where you left off with friends when distance is not a factor is a gift. Love you so much. (these pictures make me smile--esp the ones of your babies making things for my babies). See you SOON!

  4. Awesome favorites this week Holly! Ember Grey - she is my "girl crush." Never thought I'd say that, like ever! Anyways, that post was a favorite of mine to this week. Hers and your blogs are in my top three of daily reads so it was neat to see her pop up. Enjoy your weekend which I'm sure will be blessing the socks of your hubby/father for Father's Day!

    1. Nope - I just now got the picture back from being framed. Mike hung it for me and I was a little sentimental! :)
