Summer Bucket List update - round up #1!

While I'm Waiting...Bucket List update for June
I was going to say we are 1/3 of the way through summer but that just sounded sad to me so instead I'll say that we still have 2/3 of summer left to have fun!!!  That sounds much better!

We've had lots of days where kids were "bored" and had "nothing to do" but we've also had lots of fun with everyday stuff too!  Here's a recap of what we checked off our bucket list in the month of June!

+ visit a park we haven't been to before - Originally when I created our bucket list, I meant a park with a playground but we visited Huntsville State Park on Father's Day and I think this counts too!

+ take a treat to a fire station - Week 5 of our Summer of Service challenge encouraged us to serve those who serve.  We met Katy from Queen of the Kings and her family and took breakfast to our local fire station.

I made mini crescent dogs (aka pigs in a blanket), grabbed some OJ, and couldn't resist of fun printable for a jar of "lifesavers".  Katy brought fruit and also made muffins.  Such a simple way to say thank you to those who serve us everyday.

And, regardless of how many times you go to the fire station, it's always fun getting a tour of the trucks and meeting the fire fighters.
+ make sidewalk chalk art - We were able to check this item off when Holden planned our "Day of Fun"!  You can read more about that here!

It's a little hard to read due to the shadows but it says, "STOP and GET READY to get SOAKED!"
+ roast marshmallows over a campfire - We recently celebrated Dutch's birthday with Shelly and her family.  We made smores but the girls were too busy cracking us up doing skits that we forgot to take a picture.  I hope we have many more chances to make smores in the next two months!

+ go to the movies - Hard to believe but we only went to the movies once last month. But, we did get to go with cousins so that was a bonus!  There are a few more summer releases that we are looking forward to in July and August.

+ build a fort on a rainy day - With all the recent rains, we've had plenty of opportunities to build forts!

+ go to a baseball game - Thanks to college baseball, we had plenty of opportunities to check this one off our list!

+ have a water balloon fight - This one ranked right up there with "Best.Day.Eva!"  Our kiddos LOVE staging water balloon fights so when they got together and decided to ambush dad when he came home from work, it was epic!  You can read all about our Day of Fun here.

A few other things that we are working on are:
- one Pinterest craft/week - We definitely got our craft on last month (the state of our house is evidence to that!).  Here's a few of the things we created that were inspired by Pinterest:

+ take one picture each day for the entire summer - Thanks to a couple of blogger friends, we've got this one taken care of!  The Dish BCS has a fun bucket list of local events (#BCSSummerBucketList) and Kim at Hunt & Host is hosting a Mother Daughter Photo Challenge (#mandm40daysofsummer).  Come join us!

We are just a few days in to July and looking forward to checking a few more things of our summer bucket list!

Hope you are having a fabulous day!  Gig 'em and God bless!

  2. Now that my S'mores supplies are easily accessible in the pantry I definitely think we are going to have to have another dinner night! Plus the entertainment is just too good to pass up. I bought that water balloon thing yesterday and hopefully the kids and I will get a chance to surprise Keith this week!

    1. Thank you, Stephanie! It's really a very ordinary summer - no big plans or vacation on the horizon. I've learned that it's really easy to waste away your summer so we've become more intentional about trying to have fun each and every day. It doesn't always happen but we try! :) Hope enjoyed being a "big girl" to Sutton! She's a doll!

  5. It looks like you are having so much fun! We have barely made a dent in our summer bucket list so this was the motivation I needed to get moving! Great pictures. :)

    1. The bucket list definitely helps up to be more intentional! You've still got more than half of the summer so you've still got lots of time! You'll have to share with me some fun things you guys are doing. We are starting to get bored {gasp!} so it's nice to have new ideas!

    1. Yes ma'am! We've got to get busy! We got a few more items checked off thanks to the 4th of July! :) We won't finish it - but we'll come close! Isn't it fun bumping in to each other on other sites? That's how I ran in to a girl from my own town! I had never "met" her but we've become fast friends - all because of a link-up run in! Just another reason I love link-ups! Hope you are having a fabulous day!

  9. It looks like you've got a great start on your summer bucket list. (I think I ought to make my own summer bucket list -- and one of my activities should be invite friends over for home made ice cream!)

Thanks for sharing on my Grandma Ideas Sharing Time link party.

    1. We've slowed down a little - we need to get re-focused and get some more things checked off. The first day of school will be here before we know it! :( You should definitely start your own bucket list with homemade ice cream with friends at the top of the list!!! Thanks for hosting! See you next week!
