while I waited...week 2

While I'm Waiting...while I waited week 2
Our second week of the new year was way more ordinary than the first!  School is back in session, homework has commenced, and the extra circular activities are in full swing! Here's a glimpse of what we did while we waited this past week...
Monday was full of drama.  See that front tooth hanging?  It was loose but I managed to dislodge it the day before when I was washing her face (crazy, I know!).  Poor Hope wouldn't close her mouth, talk, much less eat.  I was crossing my fingers it would fall out at school but no such luck.  Since pulling teeth completely grosses me out, I called our dentist and they told me to bring her in.
I was SO proud of her!  When I asked her if she wanted me to come back with her she said, "no, you can wait right here."
Our little snaggle tooth!  Having her tooth pulled was a little more traumatic than we had planned but once it was out she was a-ok!
 where did my baby go?!
Hope's favorite meal is "za-zonya" (or lasagna as you and I might say).  She wanted to help and she did such a great job!
even if she did lick her hands a few times during food prep!
Holden came home from dance and couldn't wait to show me her recital costume!
On Tuesday, Colby's Lil' Wrangler dance team performed at halftime of the Aggie men's basketball game.
I never get tired of watching them dance (even if I was on the wrong side to see Colby and Audrey!).
Great performance by the Lil' Wranglers and an Aggie win!  Whoop!
My parents were even here to see the game!  Hope is pouting because she had just found out that Dede and Pop Pop were only staying one night. (and, I just noticed my reflection in the mirror - oops!).
Later that night I was checking Facebook and came across this gem of the Wranglers practicing before their performance!
One of my favorite friends, Erin, treated me to lunch on Wednesday for my birthday.  I love her for so many reasons but one is that she knows my LOVE for Chuy's and isn't surprised when it's where I want to go every.single.time.we.have.lunch!  Our lunches aren't as often as we would like but we pick up right where we left off from the last time and I always leave with a smile on my face!
Mike got home later than normal on Wednesday and you would have thought he had been gone for days!  Hope quickly snuggled up with him and fell fast asleep!  #babygirl
Thursdays are Show and Tell day at school for Hope.  She was super excited to carry Skye from Paw Patrol to show all her friends!
Hope LOVES to play Crossy Road - it's a modern day version of Frogger!
me: Hey, Hope!  Want to take some pictures of your brother playing basketball?
Hope: Sure!  I'll get some good ones!
And then she started playing with the color filters.  I have about 728 pictures very similar to this one! :)
Another Cats win!
Fridays are one of Hope's favorite days!  Why?  Because she doesn't have school and she gets to spend the entire day at home doing whatever her little heart desires. #thirdchildproblems
She recently found this box of Colby's Lincoln logs and has loved building "pens" for her princesses! :)
Later that day we went to watch Colby's basketball tournament.
The first game didn't end so well.
Friday was Dillon's birthday (or D-Dill as I like to call him!) and since his team was also playing in the same basketball tournament as Colby, we were able to have dinner as a family afterwards to celebrate.
When we got home later that evening, the kids had a belated Christmas gift to open from Mike's sister.  Can I tell you how excited they are to fly to California! #somebodyholdme So...anyone out there with words of advice for letting your kids fly halfway across the country by themselves?!
Bright and early Saturday morning, Colby had another basketball game.  The girls and I made the executive decision to stay home and receive text updates from Mike! ;)  And, they won!
Like a good sister, Carly went to Dillon's basketball game but Mike brought her home to hang with us the rest of the day.
The Lincoln logs have been a huge hit this week!
What's not a huge hit?!  Your sister having a friend over and not letting you play. #blessit

Colby had another basketball game after lunch but sadly they lost 45-22 (and dad didn't take a scoreboard pic like I asked him to).  So, if you are keeping track, his team went 2-2 this week.
And in other basketball news...our favorite #6 was in action Saturday afternoon too!
Holden normally is weird about having people come watch her but she was super excited to have her own cheering section today!
Holden's team got their first victory of the season!  She played awesome defense today!!!
Remember that sad, sad little girl earlier?  Well, having your own friend over to play cures that! #takethatbigsister
It's a shame she's not more full of life! :) (have I mentioned I love a snaggle tooth grin?!)
As if we didn't have enough basketball this weekend, I found Colby and Mike shooting hoops later that afternoon!
We drove to San Antonio today for Colby's Lil' Wrangler dance team to perform halftime at the Spurs game.  We stayed at the Drury Inn & Suites - definitely not the fanciest of hotels but definitely worth seeing!  It was originally a bank and they've kept most of the features.
After a quick walk around the hotel, it was time to head to the game.  This was our view at the AT&T Center.  Can you say nose bleed section?!  :)
They looked SO good!!!  So proud of this awesome group of kiddos!
Quick pic with my favorite son. ;)  It was both of our first times at a NBA game - crazy!
Mike and the girls opted to hang out on the riverwalk instead of going to the game.  Holden sent me these pics. :) They were so excited to take a boat ride and have dinner at Rainforest CafĂ©.
When Colby and I got back to the hotel, we headed to the roof to see the view.  We were treated with this gorgeous site.
Good night from San Antonio!

  1. Replies
    1. That it was! Looking forward to an extra ordinary week this week! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Fun times with your family. Always love seeing these photos. Hope has gotten so big this past year. You can see it in her little face. I remember the pouts over grandma not staying, friends over and not including, etc., etc. You are one good momma.

    1. Hasn't she?! Feel like she's growing up right before our eyes! Thank you for your sweet words! That's definitely your gift! Hope you had a great day!

  3. Love that you are doing this or I would be missing out on things like THE PLANE TICKETS!!!!! Holy crap you didn't tell me. :) Sorry I can't be a better friend and love Chuys. lol

    1. I can't believe I forgot to tell you! Holden was bummed that she isn't getting to stay the WHOLE SUMMER! That girl! And, don't worry about Chuys! That's why our worlds our filled with lots of friends - some like one thing, others like another! ;)

  4. Ok, first off: that picture of Hope sad when her sister wouldn't let her play? Poor baby! I have 2 daughters and that face was familiar but part of being the littlest. She will come to enjoy that when all are off to college and she is the HEAD PRINCESS! oldest, Kelsey, flew across the country by HERSELF when she was 6! Yes 6 years old. We had moved to Pennsylvania and we took her to DC and she flew non stop to LAX where her grandma and grandpa picked her up! It was pre 9/11 so things were just different but your kids will be fine! They are smart and good kids and not babies so the two of them together will be AOK mama! If they can fly non stop, that is best! I am sure that you will have them do that. Give them new books, etc and tell them to never lose sight of the other! They got this!!! How fun and what an exciting summer! Where is Mike from again? LA area? Such a fun thing to look forward to! and again, remind HOPE that she will be an ONLY CHILD during that time! LOL Have a great week! Love your week activities!

    1. Oh, yes! "Baby" Hope definitely has down being the baby and soaking it for all it's worth! Holy heck - 6 years old?! Bless you, mama! I've already told Mike that once I say my goodbyes at the airport that he has to have something nice planned for me! After holding in the ugly cry that I KNOW will happen, I need something to distract me from the thought of my babies so far away from me!!! Thank you for your sweet, encouraging words! Mike is from Northern California - about 1.5 hours north of San Francisco.

    2. Oh gosh I was thinking it was the LA area for some reason! We are in the Central Valley. Between Fresno and Bakersfield. Yes, 6 years old and I cried all the way back to Hershey. No lie. The flight attendants were amazing and actually put her up in FIRST CLASS both directions, so they could keep an eye on her and of course she talked to everyone the whole way there and back (or so my parents and we were told!)

    3. I know in my heart they will be absolutely fine but this is HARD for this mama's heart to process!!!

  5. She is so freaking CUTE! Isn't it adorable when little ones lose front teeth?? :)

    1. Thank you, Kayla! I think it's one of the cutest stages of childhood!!!

  6. y'all have been BUSY! i am the same way about teeth--cannot pull them out. freaks me OUT--like nails on a chalkboard!

    1. Haha - I think it's the only way we know how to be! These three definitely keep us on our toes! Yes, the teeth thing - ugh, gross! I just can't do it! Three kids and STILL haven't pulled a tooth yet! I hope to keep that streak intact!

  7. Lots of fun stuff!! Oh my goodness I could not pull teeth either. I think Chuy's is Mexican?? I wish I could find some good Mexican. We are not really known for it!!

    1. Yes! Chuy's is mexican food - well, more like tex-mex but it's SO yummy!!! Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a fabulous week!

  8. Neat! I was in San Antonio once. 2010, when my eldest son graduated from Air Force BMT. :) We did the River Walk thing, and that was about it, lol.

    1. That's about all we got to do too, Shecki! It was a quick 24 hour trip! But, it's always nice to get away - regardless of how long! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope to see you back soon!

  9. So much going on, but so much fun! Happy belated Birthday!

I absolutely love staying at Drury hotels! The late night snacks, breakfast, popcorn, etc. Right up my alley! And I would love to see what it looked like being in an old bank!

    1. I felt really bad - I left for the basketball game with all the drink tickets in my purse! Poor Mike! Next time I'll remember to leave them with him! It really was a charming little hotel!

  10. I have a little Skye fan around my house, too, although so far I've managed to avoid stuffed animals in favor of pajamas :)

Thanks for linking up with The Alder Collective! Your posts have been pinned to our group board. We hope to see you next Tuesday at 8 pm EST!

    1. Oh, yes - the Syke stuffed animal was a Christmas gift from her cousins! She was in heaven when she opened it!

Thanks so much for hosting and for pinning! I'll see you next week!

  11. Lots of fun in your household! I have basketball boys, too! We love it!

    1. Oh, yes! Never a dull moment, huh?! Hope you guys have a great weekend!

I love when you leave comments! So...what are you waiting for?! :)
