while I waited...week 3

While I'm Waiting...while I waited week 2
It's crazy to think that this is the last week of January!  Time flies when you are having fun! :) We had another week filled with lots of our normal ordinary activities but also lots of extraordinary times with friends!  Here's a glimpse into what we did while we waited this past week!

while I waited...week 3
It's fun when your week starts with a holiday.  It's even more fun when you get to spend it in another city!  San Antonio is such a fun city and we enjoyed a stroll down the river walk before checking out of our hotel.

We met up with the Barkleys for lunch - they are friends from College Station who, sadly, moved to San Antonio about four years ago.  We haven't seen them since they moved so it was so fun catching up!  Fun fact - Mandy recently helped decorate the White House for Christmas!  She was the team leader for the Red Room!
while I waited...week 3
Tuesday meant we were back on schedule - well, right after a quick stop at H-E-B to get food for Hope-y's lunch!
while I waited...week 3
Later than afternoon it was time for dance - this girl is filled with joy all.the.time!
while I waited...week 3
While Hope was at dance, Holden was at art.  She started painting these cherry blossoms - I can't wait to see how it turns out!
while I waited...week 3
Our local fro-yo shop rewards students with all A's a free cup of yogurt if you bring your report card in to the store.  Since dad wasn't going to be home for dinner, the girls got to have dessert THEN dinner!  ;)
while I waited...week 3
When I got home, I was surprised by this sweet goodie from my dear friend, Melissa.  She knows how much I love handmade fair trade items!  This JOYN clutch is perfect!!!  I LOVE it!
while I waited...week 3
Where was Mike?  He was at the Aggie basketball game watching our Aggies beat LSU.  Whoop!

On Wednesday morning, Kim and I ventured to Calvert.  The shop we were going to was closed but we had lots of fun chatting and catching up!
while I waited...week 3
After I dropped Kim off at her house, I ventured into downtown Bryan.  I stopped in at the mission and was geeked out excited to find this bag for $4!  I knew Holden would love it for her upcoming trip to California!
while I waited...week 3
Then I went to one of my very favorite stores - Old Bryan Marketplace.
while I waited...week 3
There's just something about this place!  The creaking floors, the fabulous finds - oh, I just LOVE wandering through here!!!
while I waited...week 3
Hope and I were being silly after I picked her up from school.  We had a little bit of time to kill before the bigs got home from school!

On Thursday I had lunch with a dear friend.  No pictures were taken #bloggerfail but I left with a smile on my face and in my heart.  Friends like that are priceless!  Then later that afternoon, we were back at the court for a little middle school basketball.
while I waited...week 3
Only one official showed for the game and, wow, it was like watching a backyard brawl on the court!  Lots of uncalled fouls and missed calls.  The boys played hard but, unfortunately, came up a bucket short in the end.

Thursday brought rain showers and Hope LOVES having an excuse to use her kitty umbrella!
while I waited...week 3
And I love having an excuse to take a yawning pic of Mini!  She wasn't very impressed with the cold, rainy day!
while I waited...week 3
On Friday, I emptied my closet again (for the third time if you are keeping count) to get ready for our weekend of painting.  No pictures of that - just of Maggie waiting patiently for the bigs to walk home from the bus stop!
while I waited...week 3
Saturday morning was more basketball!
while I waited...week 3
while I waited...week 3
#littlesisterproblems - always at a court, field, match or game!
while I waited...week 3
Holden's team pulled off another win!
while I waited...week 3
These two are so sweet together!  Hope's feet rarely touch the ground!
while I waited...week 3
The rest of Saturday looked like this!  Eek!  I can't wait to show you the before/after!!!

Even the teen was on board with cleaning out his closet!  Actually, he was just excited about switching to hangers that fit his clothing!  Whatever works, right?!
On Saturday evening, Mike and I were treated to dinner with Kim and her husband.  Again, no pictures (ugh! I've got to get better at this!) so I borrowed a pic from Kim's instagram feed.  She loves to "shop her yard" and her tablescapes are always so pretty!  We had so much fun (even though I'm sure our guys thought we were crazy since we met through blogging!).
while I waited...week 3
At lunch on Sunday, Hope was pretending to be "the Elf on the Shelf!" #sillygirl
while I waited...week 3
My mom and her sister, Marlene, made a quick trip to CS.  It was fun getting to have lunch with them!
while I waited...week 3
After lunch we made a quick stop by Home Depot.  I wasn't really wanting a picture of Home Depot but I thought the flag against the blue sky was too pretty not to capture!
while I waited...week 3
Hope loves that she is big enough to do the self check-out now!
Hope was o-v-e-r us working in my closet.  She got so tired of waiting for someone to play with her that she convinced Maggie to play!  ;)
while I waited...week 3
Finally, daddy to the rescue!
while I waited...week 3
Holden was busy working on a science project about solar energy.
while I waited...week 3
She decided that a model of a solar panel was her easiest option. ;)
while I waited...week 3
Today was also the one year anniversary of our sweet Kennedy passing away.  We miss her so much and think of her all the time.  And while she can't be replaced, we are so thankful that Maggie and Mini found their way to us.  Our fur babies are truly a part of our family!

I'm glad you stopped by!  Hope you have an extraordinary week!

Gig 'em and God bless!

  1. You always have the best things to do in and around your city. I like the flag against the blue sky too. Something about it... The closet, oh can't wait to see it all completed! Have a great Monday.

    1. I'm sure you could find some sequin patches to sew into some ripped jeans! ;) Joyn has some really, really cute stuff! Definitely bookmarked for the future! And, it was really hard to share the bag with Holden! ;) But, she LOVED it so it was ok - maybe she'll let me borrow occasionally!

    1. It really is. I still tear up just thinking about Kennedy. :( But, as I sit here with Mini in my lap and Maggie close by, I'm super thankful we have them! And, I've actually met a handful of people in our town that I'm not sure I would have met had it not been for blogging. And, it's crazy because they are some of my best friends now! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you are having a great week!

  9. Reading your post reminds me that I have got to take more pictures of everything I do. I have gotten real slack about this. Then when I get ready to create a post I don't have any pictures. I love the pics of Hope pretending to be elf on the shelf. Too cute.

  10. Hey Holly,

What a fun stage of life you guys are in right now! Love seeing all of your pictures and the stuff you all are doing! I think you are smart to take pictures and keep records of everything.

It all goes by so fast. One day they are little, and the next day they are grown. Enjoy every minute!

I found your post today on Alder Collective.
Hope you have a blessed day~

    1. Hi, Melanie! Thanks so much for stopping by! Oh, yes! This crazy phase of life! Time is truly going by so quickly - Mike and I talk all the time about how much time we have left with Colby before he leaves for college. I'm sure it will pass like a blink!
