the mixed tape of my life!

While I'm Waiting...the mixed tape of my life
Today I'm "mixing" Karli from September Farm's 10 on Tuesday with Andrea from Momfessionals Show and Tell Tuesday!  Andrea's prompt was to share the mixed tape of our lives and I {tried} to do that in 10 songs.  Holy heck!  This was unbelievably hard!!!  I got sucked in to listening to a bunch of old songs and at one point I had over SIXTY songs listed!  So, to spare you the mixed tape of my WHOLE life, I decided to start where I met my sweetie! ;)
It's not the most romantic story but Mike and I met at Hurricane Harry's.  It was my first night working there as a waitress and I knew the minute he walked in that I HAD to talk to him! When I hear this song, it instantly takes me back to Harry's and that night!

Tracy Byrd - The Keeper Of The Stars

Mike proposed nine months later and our wedding day came less than ten months after he proposed.  It was a whirlwind - we got married on Saturday and Mike flew out on Sunday.  I was completing my degree and his job had relocated him to California.  We lived separately for the first five months of our married life - I definitely wouldn't recommend this but we didn't want to wait to get married.  This is the song we danced to at our reception!

Barbra Streisand & Bryan Adams - I Finally Found Someone

Mike's job relocated him again and we began our married lives together in Amarillo, Texas.  Friends, this was unbelievably hard!  We quickly found out what everyone meant whey they said marriage was hard!  Ups, downs, and lots of in betweens but we made it through the newlywed stage!  Phew!  I love the lyrics in this song:  "It's a long way down, and it's a leap of faith, but we're never giving up"!

Keith Urban - Once In A Lifetime

Before we had kids (and since we lived in the middle of nowhere!), Mike and I took lots and lots of road trips!  A road trip was never complete without Pat Green playing on the radio!

Pat Green - I Like Texas

My friend Johanna was the mix tap master back in the day!  She was always putting together mix CD's for us and I found this song there.  It was the perfect lullaby for our sweet Colby since we always referred to him as our "little man"!

Dixie Chicks - Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)

Three years later we would welcome Holden to our family and another five and a half years later our family of five would be complete with the birth of Hope.  I had always wanted a daughter but getting two was more than I could have ever asked for!

Martina McBride - In My Daughter's Eyes (LIVE)

Yes - yes to every.single.lyric of this song!
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance!

Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance

My life story wouldn't be complete without some Disney tunes!  Let It Go almost made the cut but we love High School Musical in our house!  Here's one of my favs (yes, I'm a hopeless romantic! #troyandgabriellaforever):

High School Musical 3 - Can I Have This Dance

The days are long but the years are so, so short!  I know I'm going to look back and miss this - even the hard times!

Trace Adkins - You're Gonna Miss This

Mike and I have been married almost 19 years.  Here's wishing and hoping for many, many more!!!

Robert Earl Keen - The Road Goes On Forever

And...here's the song that inspired my blog!!!

John Waller - While I'm Waiting

And there you have ten songs from the mix tape of my life!  I loved the trip down memory lane!  Can't wait to check out the other posts!
Hope you have a fabulous day!  Gig 'em and God bless!
