Moms, we are THIS close!!! Hang in there!!!
I'm absolutely giddy that we are in the final countdown till school is out. Today I want to share five easy ways that have helped me prepare for the last day of school, aka my FAVORITE day of the school year! ;)
make a list
I LOVE to take pictures! I especially love to take similar pictures on the first day/last day of school. It's so fun to see how much the kiddos have grown and changed over the course of the year. But, since May is CRA-Z, I tend to forget #allthethings. A few years ago I typed up a list of pictures I want to snap before the kids leave for school on the first and last day. Now I simply print off my list and we are good to go (and I'm not bummed when I forget to take a particular picture)! It also gives the kiddos a head's up of how many pictures I'm going to take. :)
printables

goodie bags
This is definitely optional but I can promise you, your kiddos will LOVE it! You know all those things you normally pick-up to start the summer - new beach towels, pool toys, kites, water balloons, etc.? Make a big deal of them!
decorate your garage door!
One of my favorite traditions! Not only is it fun, but it makes a super cute backdrop for one last round of pictures! :)
This was our very first sign - sadly it rained before the kiddos got home but that didn't dampen our fun!
Some years I ask babysitters to help me with the signs and some years I just print them on my computer - just depends on how cra-zy the weeks leading up to the last day have been!
This is definitely making me giddy about the last day of school!
and, absolutely the MOST important...
QUICK POWER NAP - they are about to be all ours for the next 3 months!

Gig 'em and God bless!

and don't forget about the Waiting on...Wednesday link-up - a place where you can link up what you are waiting on, going through, making, anything - as long as it's family-friendly! :) it's open through tomorrow!
I get just as excited to see what you have planned for the end of the year. Remind yourself too - hang in there.
ReplyDeleteAh! Thanks! I've got the sign all ready and need to check with Mike about a water balloon fight. :) They really want the water balloons ready and waiting when they get home! :)
DeleteLoved all your end of the year pics! What a great tradition!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laura! Having a list definitely helps (especially this time of year!).
DeleteI love your printables and how excited you get over the end of school and well everything! Today my youngest will graduate Fresno State and I am feeling nostalgic for these days of years past! Life is certainly different here today but so happy and proud!!
ReplyDeleteAh, thanks, Kim! Sorry I'm a bit late replying! I was going to tell you that it's never too late to post a big banner on your garage! ;) I know you must be so, so proud!!!
DeleteThe garage signs and decorations are just such a fun tradition!!! So cute! I also love taking pictures on the first and last days of school. I completely forgot all about that this year! I could just snap one this weekend and pretend. I'm not too far off ;) Hope you have a great weekend!

Congratulations, Katie! Just saw that you welcomed your sweet baby today!!! You'll definitely want to start a list of pics to take! The more kids we added to the mix, the harder it was to remember! :) Enjoy that sweet baby!!!
DeleteLove all of these ideas! My favorite school day of the year is the last day too!! ; )
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sybil! The last day is ABSOLUTELY my favorite day of the school year!!! Great minds, right?! :)
DeleteYou do such a good job with This! Always inspires me
ReplyDeleteAh, thanks so much, friend! It looks like we're going to get rain on Friday so I've got to figure out where to hang our banner... Also will need to find a back-up plan to our water balloon fight which has become a tradition that they LOVE!!! Guess it's just a chance to make new traditions, right?! :)
DeleteI love these, Holly! What a great way to start the summer with your kids. Those pictures are adorable as well. You can really see how much they've grown within the school year and for the past few years. Definitely taking your advice and listing a few pictures I want to take of my daughter. Thanks for sharing this with us on #shinebloghop this week!
ReplyDeleteYes - the picture list is a must! Usually by the time the last day gets here, my brain is fried and I can't remember anything! Hope you guys are enjoying summer!!!
DeleteGreat ideas! My oldest will begin preschool this fall so I'll have to remember these. On the flip side, I'm a teacher and with Wednesday of next week being our last day (with students) and my official last work day of the school year on Friday, I think I'm more pumped than the kids lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kristy! Hope you enjoyed your last day of school!
