While I'm Waiting...Currently...May edition
A new month, a new Currently post!  I always have so much fun putting these together and can't wait to read what everyone else is Currently up to!

celebrating:  Only 17.5 more days of school (but who's counting?!) and then I will be celebrating summer!!!  No more lunches to pack, papers to sign, homework to fight over - just two and a half months to sleep late, go to the pool, and soak up all things summer!!!

reading:  I recently finished reading Melanie Redd's new book "How to Win Your Child's Heart for Life" and it just so happens that TODAY is her launch day!!!  Congrats, Melanie!  You can enter for a chance to win her book and a basket of goodies here!

pondering:  We've got three more weeks of school but all I can think about is summer!  I'm pondering our summer bucket list and planning a few fun things for the kids to look forward to.  May is all kinds of crazy but the only thing keeping me going is thinking about the laid back days of summer!

sipping:  Did I mention May is crazy?!  Give me all the wine! :)

going:  Our big kids leave on a trip to Northern California shortly after school is out. Anyone have any words of advice for kiddos traveling alone for the first time (maybe some advice for the hysterical mother at the airport saying goodbye?!).

What are you currently up to?

  1. You won't be hysterical at the airport! The kids are going to have an amazing time and at least they aren't 6 years old flying across the country alone (yes, my 27 yr old did that when we lived in Pennsylvania....and it was also prior to 9/11) but just breathe and know they are 2 smart and amazing kids! They will be fine mama! Give them snacks, money, iPods, iPads, books, magazines.......and know they will have a great time! and whoa !!! Hope is going to love one on one time! <3

    1. Yes, they absolutely will have a fabulous time! It's just getting them there! I'm not a fan of flying so putting my babies on a plane alone just gets a lump in my throat! And, Mike and I will be kid free - Hope will be spending time at my parents while the bigs are gone. Whatever will I do with all my free time?! :)

  2. Wow, I can't believe how much your kids have changed from last year's "school's out!" post! I can't wait to read your review about the book - it sounds great. And I have no advice about the airport thing - I'd be crying too! Good luck!!! -Jessica, Sweet Little Ones

    1. I just looked back and the end of school picture is from two years ago - but, I will say the kids are growing on warp speed!!! Yikes! Time, please slow down (well, except for the next three weeks - mama needs summer to get here - STAT!). :)

  4. You are a brave mom. I don't think I could have done it. Although times were different back then in some ways, but this momma, just couldn't. I couldn't even let them go to the mall unattended. It will be hard but they will be in good hands - God's hands

    1. It's really, really hard but when Mike's family offered to fly them out there, I knew I couldn't say no. So hard when family doesn't live nearby. It's been two years since they were in CA. They aren't going to believe how much they have grown and changed. Pictures are one thing but when you see them in person - holy heck! Thank goodness they will be in His hands!!! Keep me in your prayers! :)

  5. I'm also trying to figure out summer plans for the kids since they opted not to go to camp this year. Luckily, there last day of school isn't until the end of June though! Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for the airport when your kids leave. I would be crying as well!

  7. Airport goodbyes are hard no matter what age the child! I have felt that way about my children when they are parents themselves!! Advice? Remind them to enjoy themselves, but pay attention to their surroundings. What am I currently up to? I am trying to get more posts ahead and working on more exercise for strengthening and endurance to help out when our thirteen year old granddaughter has spinal surgery in July and I travel there to help our daughter with all that and the other children for 2-4 weeks. (They live 350 miles away from us.) I am currently reading The Whole Brain by Daniel Pink after finishing Trust Without Borders by Arabah Joy. I am also beginning to put some of the most wintery clothes away for the summer even though our weather in Ohio is still quite changeable and I can't switch totally to summer things yet. Have a blessed Mother's Day!

    1. I totally agree about goodbyes, Pam! There is no "good" goodbye! We just had a conversation tonight with our son about not losing his sister while in CA! :) Sorry I'm a bit late in replying! May got the best of me! Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you'll stop by again soon!

  9. They will have a good time. The people at the airport will take care of them. Where is Northern Cal?

Some of us are stupid enough to sign up and teach for nine weeks during summer school. I work at the only school in my district that has a nine week summer program and I signed up for all nine weeks. I guess I have two kids in college. LOL.

    1. They'll be in and around Sonoma County. I know they'll have a great time - it's just hard putting them on a place and saying goodbye for 10 days.

I can't believe you are working all summer! You'll have to plan some great weekends to enjoy yourself!
