while I waited...week 26 - girls night, game night, and sunsets!

While I'm Waiting...while I waited week 26
I seriously can't believe that it's already July!  I feel like we blinked and June was over!  It reminds me to be very intentional with our days and make sure that we make each day count.  I definitely could have used a dose of my own advice this past week.  Our week felt like a day from the movie Groundhog Day.  We would wake up, do the same thing as the day before, go to bed and repeat.  Instead of that getting me in the dumps - I should have worked on making it count.  This week I will do better!  But until then, here's what I did while I waited...

Hope started our week with Make It Monday!  She was making bracelets and necklaces for her friends!

Hope will be doing a lot more dancing in the fall so she's taking every opportunity to take classes this summer - even if she's taking them with 9 & 10 year olds!  She has been so brave!  She walks right in there and tries to do everything they do!  Definitely a proud mama moment!

Shelly was leaving to go out of town last week and since it was going to be a WHOLE WEEK without seeing her, we decided pedicures were in order.  And then we thought chips and salsa sounded like a good idea.  And, then we ordered margaritas.  And then we proceeded to talk about every subject we could think of!  I love doing life with these two!

Colby and I are part of a new service organization in town - the Young Men's Service League.  It's an organization that encourages young men and their moms to pursue philanthropic involvement in their community and provides an opportunity to enhance the mother/son relationship.  Serving AND spending time with my boy?  Yes, please!
On Tuesday, our group helped sort over 5,000 pounds of donations which is equivalent to 3,000 meals for people in our community.  Volunteering at the Food Bank is something we absolutely love to do!

The kids LOVE family game night and nine times out of ten they choose Sorry to play.  Needless to say, I got a little cocky thinking I was going to win...  Nope!  I STILL lost!

I was a little late in getting out my 4th of July decorations so Hope decided to help me!

How adorable is this?!  Check out my post from Friday for shout outs from my inspiration!  And, since the Olympics are coming up, I've decided to leave out the red, white, and blue for a little bit longer!

 Yep - sad but true!

I texted Katy the top picture as just a trip down memory lane.  She quickly replied, "We could make something today and make it a tradition."  Oh, how I love this girl's heart!  After spending the morning getting everything decorated for the 4th of July parade, we decided we were too tired to make anything so we ran to the store for ice cream and fixings!  Wanna know the SCOOP? We think fire fighters are COOL! ;) #seewhatIdidthere

The fire fighters were definitely surprised and super appreciative!

Friday was National Postal Worker Day so we left our mailman, Dusti, a little happy in our mailbox.

Colby was getting things ready to leave for scout camp.  I LOVE that I did absolutely nothing to get him ready to leave!

He's taking these five merit badge classes plus Forestry (they were out of the merit badge book).  He's completed a lot of merit badges so far - that's why these are a little random! ;)

On Saturday we were heading to the lake with friends.  We were asked to bring fruit (which we did) but I couldn't help myself - I had to take some yummy stuff too!

 sweetness!

There's limited wireless out at the lake so it's always nice to turn your phone off when you get there.  I normally take a lot of pictures with my big girl camera but these are two of the five I took!

a glorious ending to a fun day with friends

Today I had my work cut out for me!  A few nights ago, Holden gave me this sketch with what she wanted herself and Maggie to wear for the 4th of July parade.  Lots of cutting and lots of knot tying and I think I have them squared away!  Be sure to follow me on Instagram or Snapchat to see the finished product!

While I was busy making 4th of July tutus, Mike was on his way to Bastrop to drop off Colby at Scout Camp.  Prayers for a safe and fun week!

Let's make this week count by being intentional with our days!  Thanks for stopping by!

Gig 'em and God bless!

    1. Thanks! It was a last minute, "hey, sit here so I can take your picture", I snapped one and they were off again type of picture. In other words, purely luck! :) I'm loving Hope's little flag too! I can't get enough of hand print art!

    1. Yes, ma'am! I was convinced I was going to let it grow and go darker. I promptly walked in to my salon and agreed to go lighter and shorter! :) hehe!

    1. You are too sweet! I think it's because I didn't "get" serving others till later in life that makes it so important for me with our kids. We love our community and want to give back as much as we can!
