It's been nearly two and a half months since I regularly blogged {gasp!}. What could keep me from something I love so much? Well, Mike took a new job with a 3-hour round trip commute, Colby started high school, and Hope started Kindergarten - just to name a few! Thankfully Holden stayed at the school she attended last year, but, needless to say, there was lots of change, chaos, and all the feels going on over here! In addition to these changes, we were also working on lots of projects around our house, I committed to a volunteer position that requires more time than I had anticipated, the kiddos extracurricular activities started up, so when it came time to sit down and blog, sleep won out. Every.single.time! :)
We just finished up the first six weeks of school, our schedules are getting more routine, I'm delegating more and more of my duties in the volunteer position and I'm happy to announce - I'M BACK!
Since it's been so long, I thought I would do a re-introduction of sorts. Howdy, I'm Holly! I'm a Texas girl who loves Jesus, Aggie football, chips and queso, and random acts of kindness - just to name a few! I've been married to Mike for 19 years and we have three kiddos - Colby, age 14, Holden, age 11, and Hope age 6. We are blessed to call College Station home.
Colby is a high school freshman and when he's not driving me crazy :) he plays football, is one rank away from earning Eagle Scout (!), and dances on a Country & Western dance team. Holden is in 6th grade and is our budding artist and she also enjoys dance and playing basketball. Hope loves the stage and making us all smile! She is currently on a dance team and also loves to play soccer.
Since it's been a while since my last post, I thought I would catch you up real quick on what we've been up to While I Waited...
The big kids enjoyed a week at TBarM. Otherwise known as their favorite week of the summer!
We enjoyed a long weekend with the Janacs in Port Aransas. You can read all about it on Shelly's blog here.
Holden and I joined Shelly and Carly in San Antonio for Carly's birthday!
Girls Getaways are the best!
Every other week during the summer, we help out at our local food bank. This was our last week of summer 2016. :(
The first day of school and all the pictures!
Katy, Shelly and I celebrated surviving the first week of school and headed to Austin for a fun and very relaxing weekend. Be sure to read their recaps here and here! If you are in Austin, you won't want to miss the hotel and restaurant recommendations!
Hope celebrated her 6th birthday!
#12 on the field, #1 in our hearts! Our Thursday evenings are spent at the football field (and also Friday evenings, and Saturday afternoons!).
Carpools. Lots and lots of carpools!
We took the boys to Dallas to watch the Aggie btho Arkansas!
Saturdays are for soccer!
Saturdays are also for Aggie game days and spending time with Dede and Pop Pop.
It's been a long two and a half months and I've missed connecting with you guys! What does your season of waiting look like?
Waiting isn't easy. But, I've learned that some of my best lessons come after a season of waiting. I'm re-focused and ready to love more, give more, and live more. I hope you'll join me!
Gig 'em and God bless!
Holly
yes, yes, yes!! The thing about you is the waiting actually IMPROVES you. :) This was a great post and it made my morning to see you pop to the top in my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteAh! Thanks, friend! Your encouragement means more than you will ever know!
DeleteI totally understand this post. I have been in the same boat. It is hard to juggle everything and then write blog post. You are a rock star
ReplyDeleteChelsea @ http://thewilliamsjourney1.blogspot.com/
Thank you so much, Chelsea! It's hard not to let the comparison game take over and wonder, "how do they get it all done?!" But, I have to remind myself that my season and her season are not the same (and maybe, just maybe, she's better at time management that I am!). ;) Thank you so much for stopping by! It was so great to hear from you!
DeleteWelcome back, my friend! You know I have missed your posts! My season of waiting is waiting for my recent college graduate to find her first career job! its so intense here at our home. While she is doing great working for her dad, it isn't what she went to college for! So frustrating but God willing, something will happen soon. Also waiting for our 15th year anniversary trip to Napa! 3 weeks and counting.......have a fabulous day and again.....its good to see you back! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi, Kim! You are so sweet and are always such an encouragement me to me! Tell your daughter to hang on and be patient. I know exactly how she is feeling. When I graduated, I took a job at a bank - as a "junior" secretary. I wasn't even a real secretary! It was definitely hard to swallow my pride but also wonder, is this really the best my college degree could get me?! But, looking back, it was exactly where I needed to be and the family who owned the bank were fabulous people to work for. I'll continue to pray for her that just the right job finds her! And, yay for Napa! Mike grew up in Sonoma County so we get up there at least every two years or so. Our next trip will be Christmas and we can't wait! Thanks for stopping by! Have a super day!
DeleteWelcome Back, you were missed.
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much!!! I missed being here!
DeleteWelcome back! I missed your posts and can't wait to see what you're up to. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Tanya! I'm trying really hard not to brain dump everything at once but I have so much I want to share!!! Keep checking back! :)
DeleteWelcome back! It's nice to see you and your adorable children again. Change can be fun and exciting, but it's a lot of work. I await the next change. Something is always around the corner. I don't know where College Station is. I have two sisters who live in Royce City and work in Dallas. I guess it's pretty obvious I don't hang out in Texas because I don't know where anything is. Of course, I live in Florida and I don't know where anything is. Holly, where am I?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie, who waits to learn where she is
This made me giggle! Thanks for the laugh :)
DeleteThank you so much, Janie! Your comment made me giggle too! College Station is located in Central Texas. We're about 3 hours south of Dallas.
DeleteI'm glad for giggles.
DeleteAnd all the angels sang and shouted AMEN! So glad you're back ... definitely worth the wait! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are the sweetest! Thank you, friend!
DeleteHi Holly!! Welcome back. Is Colby really taller than Mike, like he looks????
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've chosen the best part!!
My wait is almost over. After 8 years, in Jan. I will be teaching again, Just to adults in jail this time, instead of kids. Praise be to God!! I thought I was volunteering, then it turned out I'll get paid! Sweet!
It's crazy but, yes, Colby is taller than Mike! Not by much but he is officially taller!
DeleteHow awesome that you thought you were volunteering and it turned out to be a paid job! I admire teachers but especially ones going the extra mile! That's awesome news!
Congratulations for getting back on track with your blogging -- and also for investing so fully in the fun of loving your family!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michele! Something had to give and blogging was the first thing I had to lay aside. But, I'm so glad to be back! I love sharing with you guys and catching up with all my blogging friends!
DeleteWelcome back! I always love your while I waited posts...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! That made my day! Hoping to share some of my moments spent waiting soon! Hope you have a super weekend!
DeleteNice to meet you and it's no wonder you've been away from the blogosphere. It looks like you have one very busy and wonderful life.
ReplyDelete#SHINEbloghop
Hi, Jenny! I'm so glad you stopped by! Oh, yes! It's a crazy, busy, wonderful time but I'm so glad I'm back blogging! It feels like coming home!
DeleteSo glad you are back Holly - missed your blog posts!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kristin! Feels good to be back!
DeleteWelcome back! I'm new to your blog and so far I love it. You have a beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteHi, Sonia! So glad you found me! Thank you for the sweet words!
DeleteHolly, welcome back. I think in this political season, I'm just waiting for Jesus to come back! But isn't it good to know that no matter who is running or who is ultimately in office, Jesus is still KING! Blessings! Donna
ReplyDeleteAmen, Donna!
