Weekend Recap - rain outs and Aggie angst

We had a weekend full or rain, rainouts, and sadly, Aggie heartbreak.  But, I used this extra time to cross off lots of little projects from my To Do list!!!  Here's a peek into our weekend!

Shipley's gets my vote!
Friday started with a trip to the polls for me!  As I was pulling in, Mike called and said he was coming to take my car to be inspected for me.  Bonus?!  He brought me donuts!
A sweet hubby and Shipley's definitely gets my vote!

while I waited - weekend recap - Aggie Ring Day
Friday was Aggie Ring Day and Mike and I volunteered for the last shift of the day.  It's so much fun being even a small part in such a memorable day for Aggies!  I love seeing friends and family come to join their Aggie and be there for a day they'll never forget!

My parents were in town this weekend and helped transport the kiddos to the high school football game while we were at Ring Day.  They had come in the day before to see Colby's last football game but it was canceled due to rain.  They were staying through Saturday to see Hope's last soccer game - but it was cancelled due to rain too!  Might I add that it started raining at the high school football game they attended?!  They are troopers!

Earlier this year Hope was to be a Bengal Belle for a day at one of our high school's football games but she was sick.  They were sweet enough to let her make it up on Friday.  Here she is with her favorite drill team dancer, Riley!

Hope was in heaven!  She was on the field with the girls for pre-game and stood as close as possible to Riley as the football team ran onto the field!

She also got to sit on the sidelines to watch the girls dance at halftime.  She {might} have gotten just a bit excited and forgot that she was supposed to wait till they come off the field before running up for hugs! #oops

This was Hope's version of heaven!

Cherry on top?  Getting hugs from your big brother on the sidelines!

Saturday was full of birthday parties - each kiddo had one to attend.  Here Holden and her friend, Kenzie, were ready to go watch Trolls!

Hope celebrated Faith's birthday with a painting party!

While the girls were partying, we were rooting for A&M.  This is the scene in our living room watching our Aggies run out of time. :(

Yes, yes it is!!!

Since the Aggie game was on, friends asked both girls to come over and hang out (so their parents could watch the game).  Kenzie and Holden worked on cat beds to donate to the shelter (check out the tutorial here).

While Jacque and Hope played dress up!

while I waited - weekend recap
Mike was so bummed after the Aggie loss that he started doing yard work.  I thought it was the perfect time to check a few things off my Honey Do list! ;)  Holden planted a lemon seed (from a slice of lemon in Dede's tea!) in a solo cup two summers ago.  Once it outgrew the cup we transplanted it into a pot.  It has since outgrown the pot so Mike planted it in our yard!  Here's hoping it continues to grow and maybe even grow a lemon or two!!!

easy 16th birthday gift - I got you a car! Just kidding! Here's a few of your favorite things instead!
The third and final birthday party of the day was for one of Colby's friends who was turning 16.  He wasn't overly thrilled but I thought the gift turned out adorable! :)

ballet shoe garland using outgrown ballet shoes
While waiting up for Colby, I finally finished Hope's outgrown ballet shoe garland!  I was nervous how it might turn out but was pleasantly surprised!  It's so fun being able to display these tiny shoes!  Now I just need to hang it in her room!

service project idea - bingo with the residents of an assisted living facility
Sunday was a nice relaxing day of enjoying the extra hour of sleep, a church service that filled my soul, and some work around the house.  But, my most favorite part was Colby and I going to an assisted living center to play bingo with the residents with our YMSL group.  It was heartwarming to watch the boys talk and help the residents (and it also reassured me that at least one of our kids should be able to take care of us when we get older - or at least come play bingo with us!). :)

How was your weekend?  Hopefully, it wasn't full of rain outs or your favorite team losing!

Oh, and before I go, have you entered our giveaway?!  Be sure to enter here for your chance to win this beautiful "thankful" pillow just in time for Thanksgiving!  Good luck!

  1. Our weekend was fun !!! My Cowboys won, My Penn State Nittany Lions won, our family team Oakland Raiders won! Sadly, I have given up on my Fresno State Bulldogs for the season. They are a lost cause. Boo! Got my storage shed all cleaned up and organized and now I am ready for christmas to begin...although we are going to the beach house this year, I will decorate both houses! Have a fabulous week!!

    1. Sounds like you had a much better football weekend than me!!! Doesn't it feel great to get your storage shed cleaned and organized?! I'm still working in my office (it was awful!) but I'm trying to be very intentional about what I keep/how I store it so I'm taking my time. But, I've got to be finished by Thanksgiving cause that's when Mike and I are going to paint! Eek! And, kuddos to you for decorating two houses!!! We are about to start a reno project and will be going to CA for Christmas so, as of right now, we are forgoing decorating this year... I know, I know. That will probably change but it's the plan right now! :)

  2. Being an Aggie isn't that hard. Trying be a Cal fan. I went Saturday night and Cal got blown out by Washington 66-27. Ugh. It was ugly. Four hours of misery and then having to race down the mile from Memorial Stadium to the BART station before the system closes (There is not much parking anywhere near the stadium, it is located in a canyon, so basically everybody takes public transportation and the BART-our subway, closes up at midnight).

The highlight for me was standing in line at the gate for 90 minutes before the gates open (3 1/2 hours before kickoff) to ensure I got my Marshawn Lynch bobblehead. They only gave away 10,000, so you had to be in line early.

At least the Aggies will be bowling somewhere. Cal will most likely be watching the bowls like the rest of us.
