waiting...

Never has the name of my blog been more on pointe! It's been months since I consistently blogged. I've been waiting... waiting... and waiting... Well, not exactly!  A lot of life behind the blog has happened over the last few months.  I was juggling a bunch of different balls and knew that something had to give. Sadly, blogging was the obvious choice.  Sometimes you just have to take a step back, regroup, and try again later.

But, I'm back and I've got so much I want to catch you up on!!!  Let's see if I can quickly recap a few of the highlights from the last few months...

In October, Mike and I agreed to look into getting our house remodeled.  YES!!! Nothing big like moving walls but there will definitely be some big changes taking place soon!  We originally thought things might start after Thanksgiving but the date was pushed back till the end of January.  More details coming soon!

Mike is still commuting but he only has TWO MORE WEEKS before he's back in College Station!!!  I'll be the first to admit, this hasn't been nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be.  His employer has been so understanding about him leaving for work after the kids are at school and leaving early so that he can get home around his normal time.  Even though it wasn't as bad as I thought, I'll be so glad to have him near.  Bless all you guys that commute or have commuting spouses!

For a three week span in late November and early December, I helped with a {very} last minute need to feed 1,500 people in our community.  I tell you this not to toot my own horn but to give all the credit to God.  There was so much that had to happen (namely raising $20,000 in less than three weeks!) that should have never happened.  There were many tears shed and many sleepless nights but God worked in our community.  Every time I wanted to doubt, He sent someone to show me that it was all going to be ok!  We called our event Blessings in Bags.  We set out to bless those who needed a little extra help over the holidays but I can assure you, I was the one who was blessed!

After we wrapped up Blessings in Bags, the kids had about a week of school left before the end of the semester.  We left for California the day after they got out of school.  To say the month of December was a whirlwind is a bit of an understatement! ;)

Mike's parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary while we were there and it was fun to be able to celebrate with them.  Sadly, we only make it out there every couple of years but my kids always LOVE their time there!

Since we go out to visit family, there's usually not much time for tourist-y things so I completely soaked up a day in the city!!!  I've been going out there for over 20 years and I don't think I've ever seen a prettier day than we had on Christmas Eve!!!

While we were in California, we found out that Colby's dance team, the
Lil' Wranglers, had been invited to dance in the Inaugural Parade.  So, for the last three weeks we've been busy preparing him to spend a week in Washington, D.C.  Yesterday, their team boarded a charter flight and he's having the time of his life!  This morning they are suppose to get to dance in the Capital's Rotunda!!!  Everything surrounding this inauguration is well, ugh, but he's having a chance to represent his hometown and state and hopefully bring people together through dance.

Oh, and did I mention I'm going back to work on Wednesday?!  I'm sure you're asking why would I ever want to do that?!  Well, I'm still asking myself that question too! :)  What I do know is that the timing works.  All three kiddos are in school and other than after school activities, it just makes sense.  Even though I haven't "worked" in seven years, we all know that stay at home moms tend to lend their services out for free.  So, I would be lying if I told you that the financial side of going back to work wasn't a big factor!  I feel like this job is a good fit for me and our family.  But, only time will tell!

With all the changes, I've spent lots of time working through schedules.  Trying to balance soccer schedules, dance schedules for all three, scout dates, art lessons, basketball schedules, community service, and meeting dates - needless to say, I've been a little pre-occupied! :)  But, I'm back and I can't wait to share what we are up to!

So, what can you expect to see in this space?  Lots and lots of grace!  :)  Until things settle down, I'm not sure exactly how much I'll be posting.  But, here's a few fun things I have that I can't wait to share with you!!!

* my One Little Word for 2017 - yes, I'm late to the show but it's a good one!
* a fun weekday getaway
* easy gift ideas
* how to balance - or better yet, how not to have it all together (I don't claim to be an expert in any area but this is one I'm pretty darn good at!)
* home organization using the KonMari method
* family service ideas
* how to survive a home remodel!
and
* my thoughts and feelings about being a working mom after being a stay-at-home mom for over seven years

I've missed blogging so much and can't wait to get back into the groove!  Thanks so much for coming back!  I'm so glad you're here!

Gig 'em and God bless!
Holly

But me, I'm not giving up.  I'm sticking around to see what God will do.
I'm waiting for God to make things right.  I'm counting on God to listen to me.

His knee is healing great but this surgery will be on his shoulder. Crazy kid - he needs to slow down! Bless his heart! Thanks for asking about him!
